Abstract
Interplanetary CubeSats (ICSs) can only be successful if they can demonstrate that they are useful for either science or engineering. We will discuss some of the possible science goals for small interplanetary probes including implanting ICSs into Near Earth Objects, using free-flying ICSs to study the heliosphere and act as space weather monitors, and depositing arrays of sensors on planetary surfaces with minimal entry-descent-landing requirements.
