Maps and Directions
Instructions for getting to Cambridge can be found here. We recommend that you arrive by public transport (train or coach) as car parking in the city centre is limited and expensive.
Walking is one of the best options for getting around central Cambridge. If you arrive by train, a PlusBus ticket can be added to your train ticket at the time of purchase to give unlimited travel within Cambridge, otherwise day tickets can also be purchased on the buses. Taxis and bicycles can be hired at the station and elsewhere in town.
A searchable map of Cambridge can be found here.
Hotels
Sites such as expedia.co.uk and lastminute.com often have discounted deals for nearby hotels. Bed and Breakfast accommodation in a Cambridge college may be available via University Rooms. Inexpensive backpacker style accommodation within walking distance of the city centre can be found at places such as the YHA. For the more adventurous, accommodation in private homes of widely varying quality and price may be available via AirBnB.com
Getting to Cambridge
London Stansted (STN) and London Heathrow (LHR) airports are the biggest international airports near to Cambridge. You can take train directly from London Stansted to Cambridge station, or the Heathrow Express or Gatwick Express train from the airport to London and then a train from London Kings Cross to Cambridge. Hire cars are also a good option (central Cambridge parking is limited but there are good Park & Ride facilities), but a taxi from an airport will be very expensive.
Please do not hesitate to contact committee@iCubeSat.org if you have any comments or questions.
